I am done with American Idol.

We all know that untalented people go to American Idol auditions. There is a special group that is needy on so many levels. These folks are the definition of unnatractive and they CANNOT sing.

You know who I am talking about.

Why in the bloody hell did American Idol devote so much time to exploit people this season? They picked out the most unattrative looking folks and showed their pre-audition interviews, a long bit of their audition and post-audition interviews. It is like American Idol is pointing their finger at these people and screaming “Hey America, this person is so not attractive! And they are an IDIOT too! Look at him/her and laugh with us!”.

Guess what American Idol? It’s not funny. And I am insulted that you think I would find it entertaining.

If you need to fill time because the talent was miserable in Minneapolis and Seattle, then profile a day in the life of an AI judge or show footage of behind-the-scenes production or have Jewel go into the waiting area and sing a song for the contestants.

Last night, Cowell really crossed the line. I have always liked Simon, I respect people who will give their honest opinion. If all of the contestants had a Simon Cowell in their life, they wouldn’t come to American Idol and make fools of themselves.

However, when Simon told one contestant that he looked like a bush baby from the jungle I wanted to slap his face. I don’t know his quote exactly and I refuse to watch the episode again, but the jest of it is that he was making fun of a contestant’s eyes.

Yes, the guy had huge eyes and they were kind of bugged out. So what? Why ridicule him on national television? He wasn’t there to show off his eyes.

This young man has to live with those eyes and has probably been made fun of his whole life. How despicable of Simon to make such a hurtful comment. If the poor guy didn’t already have a complex about his eyes, he does now.

So, the bottom line is, I am done with American Idol and I sent a letter to Ed Wilson, President of Fox Broadcasting and told him why.
